Loneliness

Have you ever been lonely
ever been so tired you wouldn't care
if your heart were to burst from emptiness?

Have you ever wondered why life has to be so hard
why you can't just get through a day
and breathe a sigh of relief at night
without loneliness taking your breath away?

Take a breath, count the beats of your heart
say hello to loneliness and be done with it.

I'm afraid of the darkness;
don't care for the shadow that hides the sun
that's longing to shine in my life.

I won't give in to loneliness
I refuse to share it's space
I'm not sure how to do it
how to work my way through it
but I'll over take it before it takes me away.

Take a breath, count the beats of your heart
say hello to loneliness, then good-bye

Loneliness, you have no place here
the vacancy has been filled with light
my day is full, my nights are for dreaming
sweet dreams that take my breath away.

Take a breath, count the beats of your heart
rest, until tomorrow.
