Do you Stand Alone?

She stands alone, both tall and true
The perfect picture of Solitude
Your soul of a woman enclosed in bark
with limbs that move in majestic arc
Alone you faced the storms of life
The wind and rain, disease and strife
Others gave up, but No, not you
And there you stand for all to see
You've had your share of troubles and woes
But you've made it through and still you grow
Like you I too know grief and pain
I've faced the wind, I've felt the rain
And like you too, I stand tall
Though life may beat you, you will not fall
It may throw punches, you may take a blow
But in the end you too shall grow
Each storm you weather increases your strength
And beneath your skin, your soul to thank
The elm and you know what to do
You count on yourself, and make it through

Now do you think you stand alone?
