This is not a sappy love poem
This is not a nostalgic goodbye
This is a survivor story
A forfeiture of a life
For all the nights I cried
For the lost days I reminisce
This a warriors story
A refusal to submit
Thank you for the misfortune
From it I have learned patience
I forgive the emptiness
No longer a slave to delegation
With great pain comes great love
A champion over adversity
This a redemption story
Taken from a life of controversy
For the moments I have lost
For all the emotional distress
This is a story of liberation-
An exhaling of my breath.
