CAN YOU SEE?

If you listen you will hear
the anguished cry of a child's nightmare
Musical voice long gone
followed by silent moans

Why are you deaf?
the secret surface in dreams
No one can know them
nor witness the sights that he has seen
of a world so painful
One could not conceive

Why are you blind?
Wounded child morning the past
seeking answers for unjust wrongs
If you listen you will hear the musical
voice no more

Why are you crying, stumbling alone?
People avoid eye contact,
hurriedly turn their back
they are not capable of lending a hand
to the brother manchild on his knees
and hands

Are they ashamed because of his identity
Did I forget to mention that the stumbling
man is forty-three?
