Accountability

I am to blame
not you,
I let you feed me
untruths and I put
pleasure before my
own needs.
I kept punishing
myself for things
long past, unchangeable
events.
In turn, I have punished you,
I encouraged your
aggressions and hostility
because I thought I deserved
your wrath.
But I don't.
You can't fix me,
change me,
or help me at all.
I must help me,
I must upgrade.
Long ago
I decided that
nothing mattered.
Feelings were for cowards
and fear was a weakness.
Weak I would never be.
But today, I came and
I conquered those
demons.
I found sweetness
tastes good,
and honesty
a valuable commodity.
Weakness is an integral part of
being human and love
in its purest form is divine.
I am the master of me.
I will spend my time here
trying to master this life.
