COULD I LIVE

Could I live
One more evening
In the sun-poured brilliance
Of a stage we share in our adolescence?

Listen for the flap of butterfly wings
And dye the air with jasmine love

No matter what we have put ourselves through
In a rush to grow
In a frenzy to know what our lives will bring
I forgot
You forgot me
We forgot
We somehow forgot us

And I just want to live in the past
Lives where we laughed
Time after time
Loved line after line

Oh, Could I live
One more evening
In the sun-poured brilliance
Of a love story written for us.
