Choice of Consequence

We choose our own heroes, desirers
And things which we admire
We are the ones
We pick the guns
And targets on which we fire
The rules are tools
Ignored by fools
To their peril and distress
It is senseless to ignore fences
Where encroachment is contained
Acquisition is a fiction
We can't possess all that we've gained
We are had by
What sparks our eye
For a flicker we will die
And remain dead
From self misled
Disputing truth
Shunning its use
Thus we perish for a lie
