BLUE NIGHT ILLUSIONS

Illusions forever
Dancing slick
In the cities

& when blue night falls
They come out
Timely
Emerging from out
The dark crevices of the hood
Alert
Huggin' their claimed corners
In small groups
Slingin'
Lethal bags
That promise heavenly sky highs
With ringin' stamp names like:
           SUICIDE, TYSON, & BLUE THUNDER
Clickin' quick
Servvin' the imported substance
To on comin' car lights
& marchin' stick figures
Thirstin' for its ride

& they work hard
Grave yard shifts
All seasons round
Subject to
Task force invasions
Enemy gun FIRE
& cramped hauls
To the nearest BOOKIN'
Yet, they remain in the Game
Month after month
Year after year
As if it's legal

Chasing the dreams
Of their ghetto legends
& urban idols
Anticipating paradise
From da quick
Dead Prez's
Flowin'
Poppin'
Droppin'
Pillin'
With no future-
Sellin' BIG BIG Dreams
Which SHORT SHORT lives
Never see

How long will
They last ?
How long can
They last ?

Will they ever
Look within themselves
Before it's too late
To find those
Undiscovered talents
They possess
But never allow
To brightly bloom?.
