cradle song

from that cradle
of the holy ghost called africa
.
.
.
black man
you stepped down
from the stars of time
standing tall, strong, invincible
on the brink of the
past/present/future past
to reach deep into our souls
to scribe baobab dreams
oral traditions
rooted deep into the shining sky
you-will stand tall
you-will stand brave
you-will stand true
and remember who you are
.
.
.
remember your dreams
and give us your words
as you gaze steady into my eyes
as I will truly look into yours
and listen
to your voice
.
chanting
chanting
chanting
.
into
.
.
.
dawn's
light
