Mandela

Mandela,
You survived
A logic-derelict verdict,
Survived tearless discomfort
Of the dust-storm-dehydrated,
And your determination did not crumble
Like limestone rubble.

Mandela,
Witnessing February 11th, 1990
Eradicate bigotry's restraints
Aroused the belief-endowed.
Among our pleas,
A wish for a ballot empowered
With your name was what
Our assaulted views wanted.

Mandela,
Those who are still famished for liberation
Perceive you as racial nutrition.
Because you uprooted the venom-polluted,
Flowers of respect sprouted
With the wisdom you gifted,
Mandela.
