THE CYCLONE

The Cyclone is a colossal
Serpent, coil upon coil,
     Its gyrating spiral,
     Springing up skywards,
     It spewed a noxious paradox
     Of coarse dust cloud
And debris, out into the balmy
     Harmattan noon air,
     Over the tangled town.
     Car headlights flared
     In the dust haze.
     Full of fury, the cyclone
     Lashed out with its conical
Tail, sweeping up a monstrous
Wind that sped its thundering
Spinning hulk along
Its cataclysmic route.
