I've Seen Cities That Don't Exist

I've seen cities that don't exist,
And walked their dusty streets
Beneath their shining spires.

I've seen fields
That are not real,
But whose flowers
Are no less redolent
Than those that are.

All of this I've experienced in dream.
And the people therein seem
Composites of those that,
In the day, I have seen.

Or do they inhabit an alternate realm
That only appears confused upon awakening.
And when there, is this realm refracted similarly.

So are they equal, or could it be,
What we deem imaginary
Is, in fact, reality.
