Some Hands Are Lovelier

Two trees breathe
The same sweet air,
And sun, and rain-
And whisper
To the moonless night
The same dim prayer
Of star-wrought wonder.

Two trees stand
Above a red, red road
Whose branches touch
And now withdraw ... and meet again
In undreamed ecstasy.

Some lips are sweeter
To capture in mad beauty
And then release-
Some hands are lovelier
To clasp awhile-
And then, let go!
