Sweet Funk (another NOLA RTA journey...)

a.m.
Still got sleep decoratin' secret folds in my mind
Eyes shining, watery black
Sweeping glances at the city street

Ears yawning
Clearing passage ways for mornin' sounds
To drum con/scious/ness

Leanin' against the bus stop
Mother-tree rustles 'bove my head

Drops of mornin' dew
Tickle thirsty lips… dry with yesterday's night
Stiffness in slender brown slices give way
Sleepy smile swallows the wetness w/ joy

6:25 a.m.
Light creeps through the cover of darkness
Casting a strange light on a city sleeping
Spirits stride silently beside her
Clearing the path ahead
