Mr. Africa Poetry Lounge!
Good-afternoon everyone… It's nice to be updating the site on a monthly basis again, as indeed I do enjoy showcasing the best poets from around the world… On that note, you shall enjoy this new crop of writers… First there is AlaKing who happens to be of Puerto Rican decent… So to my regular and Latino visitors, do enjoy the following poems as I have said before poetry is universal; My Ghetto, Taste Your Nectar, Old Stomp Grounds, ...to be Puertoriqueno, and Acerbic Pill of Poverty… Next, we have John A. Smith, as it's nice to see brothers truly embracing this art-form; AS I, THE SKIN I'M IN, ANTI-BELLUM WORLD, MIRROR, PLEASE BE FORGIVING, and Little Black Feet In The White House… Back for another round is sister Josephine Dixon Banks whose poetry touches base on a few things; In The Line of Duty, Our Black politicians, MURDER FOR THE CAUSE, THE WAY FAMILIES USED TO BE, and EARNED OUR MONEY THE OLD FASHIONED WAY… Yes, we must realize there is still more we have yet to accomplish as a people… Patiently awaiting is Dreamer31 who has supplied us with a few poems, so do feel free to intake her flow literally; Why, A Gift, Dreaming, I Feel Like, and Sunlight VS The Ocean … Also, it warms my heart knowing that the next generation of poets is keeping this art alive, so do take the time to read over Jellesa Edwards poems; My Perception, Take it or Leave it, 100 Words No Less, Do you Stand Alone?, and My Feelings in Words… Sister LaShanda Sumner is ready for the big time so here you go; YOU, PRAISE, The Dream, I STAND ALONE, and ON WITH MY LIFE… To all poets continue to allow the ink to flow and never doubt oneself… Anyway, college student Jerica Thomas has sent a few pieces my way. On that note, I want to remind all of us that it is never to late to head back to school… Yes, please get thy education, so do absorb her poetic flow; I am, This Is, We did This, No Longer will i cry, and Unfortunate Forgiveness…

After all this time the famous writers section have a few new poets, as one do need to acknowledge those who paved the way for todays poets… Al Young, who at one time was poet laureate of California, has inspired so many to pick up a pen and flow… As you will see his flow is unique with a touch of blues; FOR ALL WE KNOW, UP JUMPED SPRING, NO PRIVACY BLUES, SNOWY MORNING BLUES, UNDER CORPORATE SKIES, ONE FADING AFTERNOON, WHEN AUTUMN WHISPERED, and YOU SEE HOW SEASONS TWIST THOSE CAUGHT IN THEM… Also, we have Cornelius Eady who co-founded Cave Canem which is an organization that brings together the talented black poets from around the nation… This is a yearly get together were poetry among other things are discussed and shared… Do enjoy his work; Grief Bird, Nature Poem, LEADBELLY, Tubman's Rock, JEMIMA'S DO-RAG, Hardheaded Weather, HESITATION BLUES, RODNEY KING BLUES, and BUCKWHEAT'S LAMENT… I also have more poems from Toi Derricotte who alongside Mr. Eady co-founded Cave Canem… This sister's poetry speaks for itself; Market, Brother, Family Secrets, Workshop on Racism, Black Boys Play the Classics, and For Black Women Who Are Afraid… This man needs no introduction as all have heard of Michael S. Back to the upcoming poets, Evolution is ready to take center stage; ORGASMIC RAIN, POETIC UPRISING, The Poetic Seamtress, Lost in a storm…………….., and WHY ARE PEOPLE AFRAID?… Also, we have Nise as I'm still amaze at how poets are able to flow so freely; Hungry, Good man?, Stepping Out, My Uncertainty, and Rippling Water… Then there is sister Swain as I for one hope she looks into publishing a book soon; Hey Boy, BIG BOOTIE, HIP-HOP JUNKIE, Superwoman (talking ish), and 5 people: 3 under 6, 1 had a bad day, etc...… Poetesss Anice Enkrein is on a poetic high, so along side others feel free to read over her words; "P(lay)", "Lyrics", "Green", "Sing to Me", "Crowned Beauty", "Rich and Unhappy", "Space" (For Cedric), "Brief Encounter (Selfish)", "If I Knew How to Count to 10", "Stand Fall (For my Bestfriend)", and "He Didn't Even Know That I Existed"… Have a nice day… Mr. Africa - Oct 2, 2009
